About the Author Ilya Khairanis Othman is a senior lecturer at the Department of Water and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). She completed her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from UTM in 2007 and joined UTM after completing her M.Sc. at the University of Plymouth, UK, in 2008/9. She obtained her PhD in coastal engineering from the University of Queensland, Australia, in 2014. Her teaching and research revolve around fluid and coastal hydraulics, leading to several national research grants. She is the director of the Centre for Coastal and River Engineering (CRCE), Research Institute for Sustainable Environment (RISE), UTM. She is a lifetime member of the International Association of Coastal Reservoir Research (IACRR), a professional member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and a registered engineer with the Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM). Mohd. Ridza Mohd. Haniffah is a Senior Lecturerat the Department of Water and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He completed his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2007 and his master’s degree in civil engineering (Structure) in 2008, both from UTM. He joined UTM in 2008 as a tutor and then obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Oxford, UK, in 2014 in water wave engineering. His teaching, research and consultancy evolve around fluid mechanics and flood mitigations and have led several national research grants. He is currently on industrial attachment with a company involved in the modelling and design of flood mitigation projects. He is a registered engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). Mohamad Hidayat Jamal is an associate professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He obtained his PhD in coastal engineering in 2011 from the University of Plymouth, UK. His bachelor’s degree is in civil engineering, and his master’sdegree is in hydraulics and hydrology from UTM. He has experience in academics for nearly 20 years. He serves the Department of Water and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, UTM. He is also a member of the Centre for Coastal and River Engineering (CRCE), Research Institute for Sustainable Environment (RISE), UTM. He is also a professional engineer, Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM); a chartered marine engineer, the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology, UK (IMarEST); a chartered engineer of Engineering Council, UK (EC, UK); a certified professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), and a professional Technologist, Malaysia Board of Technologist, (MBOT).
